    The route took us 47 miles through Norton, Pirton, Defford, Strensham, Ryall and into Upton where those of us gasping for a coffee were disappointed to learn that slave master Alex was only going to allow a refreshment stop on the way back. With tongues hanging out we pressed on through Longdon, to Castlemorton Common where we had to negotiate our way round a flock of sheep in the road.

    Then it was back to Upton via Druggers End (no sign of Lance Armstrong) and a delightful lane which afforded lovely views across the valley to Bredon Hill, albeit at the expense of a tough little climb. When we reached the marina in Upton we were finally allowed () a refreshment break where coffee, carrot cake and bacon sarnies were duly scoffed. Suitably fortified we made our way home via Earl’s Croome, Kerswell Green, Brook End and Norton
