CALCULATE CALORIES

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.

Another nice walk from Haywards Heath to Slaugham and back. Headed out through Cuckfield, then across to Bolney, through the Bolney Wine Estate, and then through some farm land where we saw an old Morris FG T200. Circa 1963, looks like these were also used as fire trucks at one point. Then up towards Slaugham. We were hoping to see the ruins, but I believe they’re now privately owned, but stumbled across Slaugham Manor. Originally converted from a private residence in the 1950s into a hotel known as Slaugham Private Country Club and then into a residential training and conference facility for Sussex Police, after they acquired the property in the 1970s. The Parish of Slaugham has records that date back to the early 1600s while other records for Slaugham village itself can be traced back as far as the late 11th Century. Up towards Handcross, and then through the beautiful Nymans, bequeathed to the National Trust in 1953 with 275 acres of woodland, one of the first gardens taken on by the Trust. Past Ditton Place, a Grade II listed building, built in 1904, it was in use as a single residence until the Second World War, when it was used as a base by the Canadian forces. Then it was taken over and used as a special needs school. It’s now been converted into luxury apartments. Back down through Cuckfield golf course, and then through a few woods back to Haywards Heath. Pretty decent length walk with lots to see along the way.
