Parking
Please don’t park at the pub. There is a layby just down the hill past the pub on the left, I’d recommend parking there if you drive.

Refreshments
There are plenty of opportunities to stop on the way. My choice would be Arley Tea Room just over the bridge at Upper Arley on the way back.

The route rolls out from Fairfield and very quickly riders drop through Pepper Wood for their first foray offroad. From here the route meanders across to Blakedown via Drayton using bridleways to connect short sections of tarmac. Then its a couple more offroad sections before riders jump onto the canal and head SW through Kidderminster on some of best towpath locally.

On the outskirts of Stourport-on-Severn the direction switches to NW as riders pedal their way over to Bewdley skirting Burlish Bike Park and pick their way up through the houses before a steep drop into the Wyre Forest.

Riders enjoy a big loop of the forest here then pop out and cross the River Severn at Upper Arley which is a great place to stop for refreshments. From here it’s back ofroad to Trimpley and a tasty climb away from the Severn Valley to Wolverley to jump back on the canal to retrace some of the earlier route + a little more to get to the outskirts of Stourbridge.

From here it’s familiar, fast gravel trails to get to Clent where riders will tackle the climb to the Four Stones and Walton Hill in quick succession.

Then it’s just a couple more offroad sections and some final short, punchy climbs just to sap your last bit of energy before back to the pub for a well earned beer.

CALCULATE CALORIES

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
