RT Cardiopulmonary Loop 5.8K Walk/Jog

This route mimics the Cardiopulmonary circulatory system. (Smaller pulmonary loop with larger systemic loop. Physiology nerds will love it.

The following 6K fun run/walk/roll takes us on a tour around the circulatory system. It is made up of a smaller 2K pulmonary loop and a larger 6K figure full course (includes both a 2K Pulmonary Loop and a 4K systemic loop).

Geographically, this event starts and ends outside the ATS building on Conestoga College Doon Campus and takes us on a tour following the Schneider Creek and some other local urban trails along Homer Watson Blvd. There is an opportunity to do the smaller 2K loop or complete the full 6K course.

0.0 Km – Lungs - Starting at the ATS building parking lot, the route will leave the Lungs and move down the Pulmonary Artery

1.0 K – 1.5 K Heart (Left Side) – We enter the heart at the LA. At this point you can choose to :

A/ Bypass through and ASD/VSD to the RV and shunt back to the Lungs via the Pulmonary Artery (completing 2 K)

B/ Proceed to the LV via the mitral valve and flow to the Aorta (committing to 6 K)

1.5 K – 3.0 K Aorta – Entering the Aorta, you will flow another 1.5 Km (Via Doon Village Road along the Schneider Creek) to the level of the tissues (by Tim Horton’s at Pioneer Park).

3.0 K – 3.5 K Tissues – Bathroom breaks available at Tim’s or DQ!

3.5 K -- 4.5 K Vena Cava – We cross Homer Watson and take the Vena Cava all the way back to the Heart

4.5 K – 5 K – Heart (Right Side) - We enter the RA, move quickly along to the RV and return to Conestoga via the Pulmonary Artery

5 K - 6 K - Pulmonary Artery – Home stretch!! We move along the Pulmonary Artery to finish back at the Lungs (ATS building parking lot)
