CER- Alison’s To Aqueduct Marina- Suits EW

This route is fairly exposed on many lanes, especially from Church Minshall back toward home and therefore better suited to Easterly winds, which are rare. However, it is flat.
Not good route in any stiff stiff winds, but at least easterly makes the 6 mile strech from Church Minshall very nice.
The cafe is large with great views over the Marina and good cakes.
The cafe is only a mile,or so from the Venetian marina, as the crow fly’s. However, getting to it is a good few miles more.
If you wanted to bail on this route, due to what ever, then decide at Cholmondeston, as you can go left to Wettenhall and home. After Chalmondeston there is no option, it’s a 10 mile loop around via the cafe & back to Chalmondeston. You could of course stop at Venetion Marina at 17 miles ( think cafe has reopened now Aug 23) and then simply turn back & pick up the return route up to Wettenhall.

Again however, there is another cafe 3 miles after the Venetion on the same lane and again on the canal, at Acton, just after you skirt Kingsbourn on the edge of Nantwich.
You stay on the lane from the Venetion to the A51 ( not good bit of lane at all) and cross straight over and follow a nice little lane around the estate for half mile to the junction of the B 5431, just head up the B5431 to the canal centre a few hundred mtrs. If this cafe is used, then simply turn right out of the cafe up the B5431 for half a mile to Acton and go left and only a few miles is Brindley crossing up to Bunbary.


You can shorten the original overal route by 2 miles, almost immediately after the cafe by going left to Chalmondeston, after a mile, just before Church Minshall.
