A very nice route has a lot of scenery throughout the way, and this one is no exception!

It starts from my home village, Great Missenden, in the UK, and zigzags its way down through France, Germany and Austria with stops at Strasbourg - on the river Rhine over the border with Germany, Neuschwanstein Castle, Munich, Salzburg - the storybook version of Austria, especially its wonderful castle and citadel - and then Innsbruck in the Tyrol Alps, not forgetting to tackle the heart-in-mouth Grossglockner Road along the way from Salzburg to Innsbruck! It then traverses the scenic Brenner Pass through southern Austria and north Italy to Tirano, whereupon afterwards it crosses the border into Switzerland and back into the Alps to St Moritz for a great skiing excursion, before heading further north to Zurich.

After stopping over in Bern for a few days, it crosses into France and weaves its way around Mont Blanc back into Italy for a short while, before heading back into French territory again!

It then returns to England by way of Paris to see Chateau de Versailles, and Boulogne-sur-Mer to visit the imposing Nausicaa Sea Life Centre on the way to ride the Eurotunnel to Kent and London before heading back home again after a really beautiful adventure through mountains, castles and ski resorts!

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
