MG- Westerlies, Very Hilly To Rose Farm+

This one is aimed at Westerly winds and is therefore veryhilly, due to it being shorter than the other versions. The longer version takes in Helsby of course and there is a mid version through Delamere Forest lane etc.
In fact there are 3 or 4 versions of this in order to provide option on distance
Anyway this route specifically designed to take advantage of wind cover by exploiting the hedge rows and down hills in the right places. However, it does mean taking a less than favourable stretch & twice, in order to keep the distance down, but doesn’t mean it is easier, because the hills remain the same, so tougher ride on the legs in fact
Cafe option for this version is Rose farm or Kelsal bike repair, which is in the same place. Or carry on another mile to Tarporley to the Ginger Pickle.
The last 12 miles from Rose farm exploits the ridge line and is virtually totally protected from a westerly , mainly due to Peckforton ridge and the Bickerton hill and Brown knowl hence, a hill route, but lovely.

This route is easy to shorten as well in both distance and hills by simply cutting out the loop above Delamere, by simply turning right at Delamere lane. This means the planned cafe stop would be at 19 miles. However, the short cut means I could make the cafe stop Rose farm or bike shop cafe, with a bit of a diversion and therefore avoid the horrible bit of lane to get down to Delamere station, by going through Norley. However I do have a route specifically plotted to do this and called MG- Westerlies etc
