Vers le début du XIVème siècle, ce chemin était parcouru par les miséreux qui venaient assister aux services religieux donnés au Couvent de la Part-Dieu. En récompense de leur assiduité, ils recevaient un bol de soupe et un morceau de pain.

L'origine de ce chemin date de 1307, comme le Couvent. Il fut en premier lieu utilisé par les moines et les boeufs qui descendaient à la rivière pour y chercher les pierres nécessaires à la construction du Couvent.

Actuellement, ce parcours de 7km se veut accessible à tous. Le départ se situe à la sortie de Bulle en direction de la Chia. En voiture, arrêtez-vous près de l'ancien moulin de la Trême à la lisière de la forêt. Le point de départ du sentier est indiqué tout comme le parcours. Buvette de la Chia (ouverte tous les week-ends) se trouve sur le parcours et une place de pique-nique vous attend au bord de la rivière.
