1.6 miles to the SW; mainly on paths but with a central section across fields with some undulation. Only suited to pedestrians.

The Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witnesses was built by members in 1990 on land just west of the B2139 that was amongst potential sites considered for the first Thakeham Village Hall. Follow the side road from the front of Kingdom Hall to the south for 100 yards to the Greenhurst Lane junction and turn right.

While the speed limit is about to be reduced from unrestricted to 40 MPH care is needed for the 150 yards walk along the road. Opposite the first house on the right (Treetops) a footpath is taken leading off Greenhurst Lane to the left. Head south on this path over a single stile and then along the field boundary with a turn to the west. Pass through a pedestrian gate (broken) and then shortly follow the path to the left with recent tree planting to the right and later the left.

New light industrial development is evident on the left of the path. These two substantial workshops have been built (2015 and 2019) by Tesla who employ about 300 staff at this site. While not connected with the Tesla of N. America, the leading electric car manufacturers, this company is engaged in a similar field making high end magnets and associated equipment used in medical scanners, the hydron collider at Cerne, and so on. The path adjacent to their site, which will be less evident once a tree cover is established, is prone to thick mud.

The path terminates at the southern end of Northlands Lane (see Route 16) at the boundary between Thakeham Parish and Storrington and Sullington. Turn left and leave East Wantley Farm with its thatched barn on the right. On passing through a five bar gate continue due south; the path to the right leads to West Wantley and the northern end of Fryern Road. The path continues for about 200 yards with a field on the left which is currently expected to be developed with 60 houses. As part of the process the condition of the adjacent footpath is to be upgraded.

The path joins Downsview Avenue which leads to the south and gives access to the centre of Storrington after 900 yards.

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
