    1. The walk starts at Ladybank Railway Station. Head north along Victoria Road, keeping right at the left bend to proceed along Golf Street.

    2. Look out for a path on the right hand side of the road, which passes between houses and crosses the Newburgh railway. The path heading towards the woods is clearly visible - follow this along the edge of the woodland for about 1.5 miles until it turns right at the edge of the woodlands and crosses the East Coast Main Line railway.

    3. Follow the road southeast alongside the woods until it reaches a junction, before heading north again towards the railway.

    4. Take a right just before the railway crossing and follow the track alongside the railway, which eventually passes under it. Keep on the track, which heads north aongside the Rankeilour Burn briefly before turning east. Lookout for woods on the left; just after these, turn right down a track and cross the railway once more.

    5. Keep on the route southeast, down Manse Road and over the River Eden. Stay on Manse Road, between several buildings and again past further buildings on the right. Manse Road then takes a sharp left bend (marked by a bridge over a long-gone branch railway line) - take a right here and head southwest.

    6. The road gradually turns southwards and emerges on the main A914 road. Turn right and after 100 metres or so cross the road and head down the farm track signposted 'Bunzion'.

    7. Head for the clearly visible farm buildings. At Lower Bunzion the road turns right - ignore this road, and instead head straight and up to the right of the buildings. The route meanders through some woodland and up between cropped fields before passing through trees and onto the minor Q67 road to Burnturk. Turn right and follow the road for approx 1.6 miles to Burnturk.

    8. Pass through the village and look out for a path heading to the right down the edge of the grass field, just as the road slights left after the 'Burnturk' village entry sign.

    9. When the path reaches the road at the bend, turn right and head east into Kettlehill. After the last house on the right, turn left down the road which leads north to Balmalcolm. At the end of the road, pass the buildings and continue on the track down past the trees which leads past Muddy Boots and into Balmalcolm.

    10. Turn left and, after crossing the road, follow the A914 westward until the Kingskettle junction is reached, just before the cemetery. Take a right and head towards Kingskettle.

    11. Just before the church, turn left along South Street. At the junction with Main Street, turn right and head north until the junction with Ladybank Road is reached.

    12. Turn left. and continue along the B9129 (named Ladybank Road, then Kettle Road after it leaves Kettle). The road eventually reaches Ladybank and leads under the East Coast Main Line railway, becoming Commercial Crescent and leading back to the startpoint at Ladybank Railway Station.

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
