    Ride 3 starts to test the navigation a bit more.

    You're straight into some climbing, up Col du Bluffy, to get out of Talloire and through Alex. From Alex you are on a reasonably busy road, but the drivers are nothing like NZ. You turn off before Thones to head up towards the Aravis ski area. The next 8km up to St Jean de Sixt is a bit of a long drag - but you can see what lies ahead of you and it’s stunning.
    Getting through the village of La Clusaz can be a bit confusing, but any wrong turn leads you onto no exit roads or back the way you came. From La Clusaz to the top of Col des Aravis is where the hairpins and cow bells start. I recommend a coffee stop at the top.
    Then it’s a long descent down to Flumet and then a gentle descent down the valley towards Ugine. From Ugine it’s on the cycle paths back to Talloire.

    The climbing on this ride isn’t particularly steep, but is long.

    On the Epic tour we will climb the Aravis going the other way.
