    A loop from pretty Combrook village, initially with good views of the Capability Brown lake, crossing former parkland and then, beyond the road (dog-leg left and right on the wide verge), following a farm track north. After turning right on to a short road section, turn right on a public footpath (normally mown) through more parkland towards Compton Verney, a historic house that is now a highly regarded art gallery. Cross through a short stretch of woodland to the road, then it's a bit of a slog across the field and up the hill to a nice woodland path, and a rough field path back down to the village. The route can be halved by turning right along the road towards Compton Verney instead of left to the farm track; just over the bridge, there's a public right of way on the right at the start of the open field (path possibly not visible) leading up to the woods to rejoin the longer route. This path works well in either direction. The highlight is the southern lake section at the start, which makes a good out-and-back stroll. It's usually possible to park near the village hall.
