This is a cracking steap route, if a little urban in the beginning, in order to get across the top of Wrexham and make the ride a little different, as it is a variation on a theme for the area. The Lavister/ Jomeley’s cafe route is the other fab route and virtually all rural, via the chair and possibly the steps? ( part of the Minerva road) However the key scenic 15 miles in the middle is the same.
This route takes the B5101 and is more interesting than the steps, in fact awesome stretch. However this route is very hilly and steap in places, just a little more than the Jamoley’s. There is one hill, fairly long and is at least 20% in places. It is definately a killer, that requires some hill fitness 1st, as it comes after several tough hills.
I wouldn’t tackle this route with out several other hilly rides 1st, especially on my Whyte with it’s current gearing.
This route is not advisable after heavy rains, so not really a winter route however, I don’t mind it.
We have ridden it when rivers were running down some lanes.

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
