Popular Routes
I just confirmed that it's working correctly now. Thanks for the quick fix.
That should be working OK now Michael.
We'll look into the FIT download issue and get that fixed - I think we may have affected it when we did the other changes.
I did gpx first and fit second. Earlier today I tried both clicking the X and cancel with no joy.
I just tried a gpx bulk download and that seems to work okay.
Maybe just a fit problem?
I also tried bulk downloading 10 files, FIT format .... stuck here.
Aborted by clicking the X. Re-tried GPX, worked OK
I performed a bulk download of the gpx files and the resulting zip contained all of the routes. I attempted to bulk download the fit versions and ran into a major problem. The download gets stuck on "PROCESSING SELECTED ROUTES".
Troubleshooting included: 1) closing and restarting my browser (Opera), 2) using a different browser (Chrome), 3) signing off, restarting browser, signing in again then trying to download, and 4) downloading a different selection of routes.
None of the troubleshooting techniques worked and I can no longer perform any bulk download.
The route ID is appended to the route name to make sure that the filename is unqiue.
But given that the files are within a zip file, is there any reason to truncate the Route Name?
:)
We've made a change to the bulk download process, which should hopefully help. We'd also recommend downloading routes in smaller batches if possible, as this will probably reduce the risk of any issues.
We've changed the download file names too. The unique Route ID is now appended to the end, so that the files can be sorted alphabetically once downloaded.
Thanks for the additional information. We've had a quick look into this and it seems to be an intermittent problem, which always makes it harder to resolve. Also, it doesn't seem to be connected with any particular route. We'll need to do some more detailed investigation.
The route ID is appended to the route name to make sure that the filename is unqiue. We could possibly append it to the end, rather than the beginning so that you can still sort them alphabetically once downloaded.
The first bulk download was gpx and the second was fit - that was not intentional as I wanted gpx.
I did not receive any error messages.
Sorted alphabetically, the gpx down load is missing the first four routes and numbers 7 & 8. And the fit version is missing #1.
I agree with Mark and would prefer not to have the plotaroute ID number appended to the filename.
I tried this on 35 files, tagged in My Routes. All formats dowloaded 35 files except KML whiich downloaded 34. The missing file was in the middle of the list. I tried the download many times; each KML download was the same (34 files, same missing file). Repeated just with GPX and each download was the same, 35.Not sure if it's filename/length related. My missing file was truncated to 23 characters plus the 3 for the extension, but then, so were many others. On this note, could something be done about the filenames after downloading? The routename 17, Unst To Lerwick ends up as 2298402_17_Unst_To_Lerw.gpx. Not sure why the filename length should be truncated, or why the random 7 digits are added. The latter means the files are not in the same alphabetical list as they are in My Routes. They can be bulk trimmed using a 3rd party app, but that's a faff.
Hope that helps
Mark
Hi Michael - yes, that does sound like an issue. What format did you select? Were there any error messages during the download? And did you notice if it was the last routes on the list that were missing or just random ones from the list?
I just selected 28 routes and performed a bulk download. The zip file only contained 22 routes.
I thought I did something wrong so I tried a second time and received 27 routes in the zip file. The zip file size is well under 1MB so I'm not even close to approaching the max file size limit.
Is this an issue or am I missing some technique to properly bulk download?
Michael
