Ok, seems to be a Safari issue, downloaded them fine using Chrome! (MAC User)

If I want to download a route as a gpx file it first tells me  to change the number of directions (which I usualy dont use and so I delete them all).  Having done this, it tells me to proceed. But the downloaded file cannot be used /read as gpx, neither by the app Bikecomputer (Android app) nor by Basecamp (Mac app for computer) nor by Plotaroute itself when uploaded again.  (Using mac with Chrome). Its a route of 64 km.

A month ago I managed to download a gpx-file to use with Bikecomputer, but the gpxroute  on the phone app was not acurate at at all, and just indicated a direction in a zig zag line, not following roads at all. Whereas my plotted route was rather accurate. I thought this was due to the app, but now Im in doubt.

    Thanks for your help.

Hi Michel - Did you download the route as a GPX Track file or GPX Route file?  To retain the detailed plot of the route you need to download it as a GPX Track.  A GPX Route file only contains the waypoints not all the points along the route, which in this case is the list of directions and their coordinates, so if you use this format you would just see a straight line between each waypoint when you load it on your device, unless your device has its own routing capability.

Thanks, ill see to it that it says 'track'. But isnt it surprising it cant be read by any device, not even by Plotaroute?

If you deleted all the directions and downloaded the route as a GPX Route file rather than a GPX Track file, I don't think there would be any route data in the file, so that could be why it can't be read.

When I try to see a posted route on my clubs page it just brings up a security certificate alert, how do you sort this?

Still seeing this same issue if I try to download a GPX Track of the following route: https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1150777. Works fine in a web browser. Thoughts?

Sorry Chris, what issue are you seeing? You can only download routes from a web browser.
