To highlight ...... "but on a multi-loop route it would help to be able to colour each loop differntly. "
See the post announcement about the new Shift Route toolemployee tracking. and a suggestion there to enhance the Shift Route tool .......
if you do not select the loop in different ways it can be very bad .. you are right
I know that this question is already understood, but I am also interested in this for my software, would it be better to have an editing function that separates obstacles for sections of the route after it is built, and not during its construction?
See the post announcement about the new Shift Route tool. and a suggestion there to enhance the Shift Route tool .......
We're pleased to say that we've implemented a solution for this now - see today's announcement about the new Shift Route tool.
Thanks for that suggestion David. The feature request to separate overlapping sections of a route is still on our list and is something we hope to be able to do at some point.
Hi
Not sure where this feature has got to because it is an old thread.
In adition to Admin comment, "I wondering though if it may be better to have an editing function that separates overlapping sections of a route after plotting it rather than as you plot it" it would be kind of handy to be able to colour different parts of a route in seperate colours. I know we can set the overall route colour but on a multi-loop route it would help to be able to colour each loop differntly.
This may also help the out-and-back issue described below as it would better distinguish the legs.
Thanks,
David
Hi Stefano, I had some additonal tests.
You can't add Navigation orders on the returnpath tracklayer ?
Tested in Plotaroute: Confirmation. @ Admin ? Possible ? As I am new here maybe I missed something ?
Function: To add new directions, drag the "Edit" marker on the map to the required position seems not to be optimal.
A too 'jumpy' trackpoint to trackpoint position selector only allows to select and add new navigation/notes on the visible (top) track layer.
The Plotaroute time glider (manual playback) shows position in time and distance (distance marker) on tracks perfect from start to finish.
A timeglider selector, allows to add manual navigation/notes on any track location even between existing trackpoints, by creating a new additional trackpoint and according associated Coursepoint.
As in RWGPS: Function "ADD to cuesheet". Add free positioned (= ontrack) coursepoints by timeglider selector in RWGPS, no problem.
Start and Finish at the exact same position ? Maybe the 800 when navigation is started does see....the "finish" thinks navigation job is already done ? (In TN you can easily adjust your "on track" progress). No idea how the 800 behaves. Try alternative design where the return leg is shorter than the outgoing leg, so that start and finish have a different position on the partly common out_return track. Then move to the startpoint, start 800 navigation. Just another additonal idea...to test.
Willy,
thanks a lot for all these info, I will have a look at all of them asap.
I will get back to this topic soon.
Ciao
Stefano
Well at least you'r using the correct file format for succesfull navigation on most complicated tracks. My (history) used gps (sold in perfect condition) was Garmin Edge 705.
Never had such a problem. Only had to pre add turn warning before turn. Well known behaviour of 705 and some other units.
No Garmin gear in use anymore now only using Android Smartphone. Apps: Track Navigator (simple) and Locus Map (needs study because of many many features).
My advise to find out your specific problem: Double check and have a quick test via Android Smartphone app Track Navigator. TN is very easy to use and understand. See the coursepointlist in the app and browse all navigation instructions. Have short demo circuit realdrive test. Find out difference with Garmin gps ?
My tcx navtracks designs: By Mapsource in combination with JavawaRTWtool. Or Website design: RWGPS and now very recently testing Plotaroute web.
TN info in tread: https://www.plotaroute.com/posts/1469/D/1 How an instruction or information sounds in TN ?
See: https://youtu.be/s5g7nJFPK1Y Very promising not ? ;-) A joke of coarse to show huge difference using tcx cuesheet with POI (wpt) announcements.
Hi Willy,
I have a Garmin Edge 800 and it does support tcx, in fact I always use tcx; anyway, it happened that pushing the "start"button on the Garmin when I wanted to follow a track, if I was on a portion of a street the foreseen an out and back, the GPS told me to go in the wrong direction; when I was pedaling in the right direction it increased the remaining km rather then reduce them.
the problem does not lie in the GPS behavior only, but also when I edit a track: regardless on which web site I am, on an overlapped track it is very hard to select the right direction in order to create a Course Point at the right km.
Which kind of try do you want me to do?
Thanks
Btw. Forgot to tell. I do not think the function Plot return leg of an out-and-back route is functioning properly. At least I do not notice the new expected extra return instructions to be generated ?
Works ok: By a short test generate shortest path A to B and then generate shortest way return from B to A ... generates the instructions as expected.
Hi Stefano,
Does your gps accept tcx ? Generates all commands in perfect time order (and so distance) even if design has overlapping identical positioned out and return sections. Generating different positioned out and return track by autorouter ? If there are no bicycle sideways ? = Wait wait wait. Try tcx..... now.
OK,
thanks a lot for your feedback.
Best Regards
Hi Stefano - this is on our Feature Requests list (number 12), but at present there are quite a few other requests that have more votes, so it may be a while before we can get to it.
John
Hi there,
any update on this topic?
SB
I agree that would be a better way to implement this feature.
We'll certainly see what we can do to help with this. I wondering though if it may be better to have an editing function that separates overlapping sections of a route after plotting it rather than as you plot it. This would then allow people to do this for routes that are uploaded to the site as well as for any that are plotted using our route planner.
I vote for this as well. i do a lot of out and back and sometimes the turns show up for the other direction. i am loving all the other fetures you have recently updated.
thaanks

Hi Stefano - that is a great suggestion, thank you for putting it forward. I'm not sure how easy it would be to do but I'll add it to our feature request list for consideration.
