I have some unusually long directions in my latest route.  If they grow to a page in length, they are truncated rather than being continued to the next page.

As an example see: Route 873854

If a photo happens to be included and is too long to fit on the current page, it is dropped altoghether.

Direction 21 in the above route illustrates this.

Thanks again for the feedback Martyn. This is another one where using the Print With Browser option seems to address it.

Yes, 'Print With Browser' produces a complete output but leaves blank spaces at the front of some direction points.  I'm also thinking that this is a soultion that might be OK for me but I'm sharing these routes with a wide variery of people many of whom are barey computer literate.  Is it acceptable for them to find that the prominant 'Print' feature does not do a complete job?

I think your use case is probably quite rare Martyn - very few people add as much text as you in the directions. Having said, that, yes, in an ideal world the default print option would cater for this.

Yes, I'm sure you are right. It's just that Plotaroute suites the use case so well.  I know of no other tool that could do quite the same job.  However, I am aware of just how many improvemetns are there for potential developoment, so I understand.  I will try writing some notes to explain to people how best to use the 'Print Using Browser' option and then produce a paper copy.

I'm continuing to look at options for reliably including photos alongside long directions.  I'm concluding that one way may be to add the photo into a separate direction point immediately after the direction with long text (rather than in it.)  I've tried this and surfaced another minor, assoicated 'bug'. If the photo has a caption, this is appended to the directions rather than being printed on a separate line.  I've tried adding a new line to the end of the direction and this does not seem to make any difference.

I've tried to include a screen shot below.  Not sure if I've been successful.

    Directions and photo captions merge

I've noted a slightly differnt problem with text placement in directions that include a photo with a caption.  In this case the text of the appended caption is being truncated.

    Truncated text

    Further to previous post:

On further investigation, it looks as though the photo caption text is being truncated after entry.  I can type it all in and it appears to have been accepted but only the fist part of the text appears to be saved. This is not immediately apparent but becomes so when printing the route with directions.

Hi Martyn  - photo captions are limted to 60 characters, so it may have been truncated when it was saved. We'll look at changing it to prevent more than 60 being entered in the first place. Can you share a link to a route with the othe issue (about the caption being append to the directions rather than being shown on a separate line)?

This is the route I'm working on: https://www.plotaroute.com/route/2015037?units=miles

You will find it contains several examples of the issue.

I did not think that "Reproduced with the permission of the National Library of Scotland" was an unduly long caption.  It fits easily within the width of the photo when typing it in.  Is there a reason for constraining captions to just 60 characters?
