I'm very sad. For long asphalt routes (brevet examples), the Google planner was much better than the OSM. Now we will have to rule with our hands numerous attempts to "improve" the route, especially in cities.
Perhaps it would be worth thinking about dividing the project into 2 parts. Those who want new features would go to a new project, and those who need Google would stay on the old
This is no good. when I noticed the missing toggle for street view, i some how knew Google is the culprit. They are crazy for money. I ma discontinue my Premium account here
@ ENDURA SOON - you can right-click on the map in edit mode and select Google Street View from the bottom of the Map Inspector window - I think this is an improvement as you straight to the Google map
Thank you for the upgrade, I appreciate it, now getting more than used to using the map inspector, and enjoying OS Maps. Now that you have some new arrangement with OS, is it possible to use OS coordinates now for finding, plotting etc. rather than the polar coordinates please?
Thanks, Colin
This is extremely disappointing, I can no longer see the advantage of using the premium service.
I've only just discovered that we now have OS maps. This is excellent news as OS maps are my 1st choice of maps. I no longer need to download a route and use another app to check my route on OS maps. Also just for the record I do not miss Google maps at all as I never used them.
I’m very disappointed with the loss of google maps. On a small tablet, (iPad mini) the simplicity of google maps makes it very much clearer to use. I use the tablet when touring. RWGPS and Map my Ride both continue to offer google maps and I will have to consider if moving makes sense. I do think plot a route has the best mapping tools etc but. A minor loss of flexibility may be the price I pay for being able to access google maps. I haven’t gone.....yet, but my renewal is no longer a foregone conclusion. Sad.
Losing the Street View split screen is very upsetting. The Map Inspector Street View link isn't the same as being able to see Street View as you plot. I used it for checking pavements/road conditions when trail runs require me to navigate the occasional country road.
The Street View Split Screen was the sole reason I paid for a premium membership, so I'll have to reassess when my next renewal comes round.
Very sad to notice the sudden lack of Google Street maps, as well as street view split screen, please reconsider this choice
Colin - Thanks for the suggestion about adding support for searching map locations using OS grid references, we'll look into that.
