GM Ringway With Shorter Stages

This is a less challenging variant of the GM Ringway — Greater Manchester's long-distance trail. While each of the 20 stages starts and ends at the same public transport stops as the main route, the longer and higher sections are replaced by easier sections no longer than around 10 miles / 16 km in length. What's more, all stages avoid steep gradients and the use of stiles as far as possible. Similarly, the routes generally avoid very high ground (staying below 300 m above sea level), while any higher sections stick to clear paths or tracks to facilitate navigation. This alternative GM Ringway still offers fantastic varied countryside with fine views and even includes some features not covered by the main route.
