Hi Julien, sorry I'm slow to reply, I've been out riding! Honestly, I've never noticed it not working before, but that may just be good luck. It may also be that the descriptions in the created directions have become more detailed, so there's more options! But yes, your solution of being able to prioritise the abbreviations is exactly what I was thinking of, and seems like the best way to go. Thank you!
Hi,
Quick question about your request: did it work before? You're saying that "now" it's being sorted alphabetically.I'm just wondering if this is a feature request or if it's more of a bug.
I tried it on my and and the same thing happens. It will apply the first abbreviation in alphabetical order and it will prevent another abbreviation to trigger if it has words of the first abbreviation, like you said.So the best thing might be to be able to chose the priority of the abbreviation. In your exemple: 1. Apply "Sharp right turn onto" becomes "Sh RT" 2. Apply "Turn right onto" becomes "RT" 3. Apply "Turn Right" becomes "RT".This way the abbreviations would go from the more detailed, to the less detailed.
I'll wait for your answer, but I think I'll add it to the requested features list once I update it.
Best regards,
Julien
The abbreviations list is really useful. When I'm hammering down a rough single track at 60km/h I don't want to read a line of text (or the first half of it, because the rest doesn't fit on my display), I just want to see a couple of letters and know what's coming up. Just lately it seems to have got less useful though. For example:
If the instruction is "Turn Right" I just want to see "RT" (for right turn).
If the instruction is "Turn right onto Cotter Road" I just want to see "RT Cotter Road" (because I'm not an idiot, I can figure out that I should turn onto the road that is named).
If the instruction is "Sharp right turn onto Cotter Road" I just want to see "Sh RT Cotter Road"
It all sounds easy, except it seems that custom abbreviations are now being sorted alphabetically, and only the first is applied, so now in that final case, and looking at my 15 character display, I see "Sharp RT onto C", which is really unhelpful as I reach the intersection of Cotter, Cuthbert and Cumberland Roads!
So can we please have the ability to manually configure our own abbreviations lists?
Thanks.
