    True, but I don't use OA for route plotting. The maps are not a patch on PR (other than the OS maps). I think you can use it for free and it will record your walk/ride etc.

    Looks like Plotaroute's new app will have the functionality I am after - just need something basic till it comes out.

    There is a lot of route-planning overlap with Outdooractive.

    The Garmin looks good but is, sadly, beyond my means.

    I believe this feature may be coming soon to patient plotaroute users, see Beta Testing of New Mobile App :)

    The best app for recording used to be Viewranger (in my opinion). It was taken over by Outdooractive, and so now I use their app to record my rides/walks on a phone. Of course, I really would recommend a bike GPS to follows teh routes you plot and also record those rides (or just record, of course). I have a Garmin Edge Explore 2 and highly recommend it.

    Having recently bought a ebike, the hills around us in west Cornwall are no longer impassable, so my daily before-breakfast-exercise-ride range is extended. Plotaroute does an amazing job plotting routes, but I would also like an app that records my rides. It doesn't need bells and whistles and, as Plotaroute has route stats, I think I really only want time and speed.

     

     

    Can anybody suggest a suitable app?
