We can certainly look into the possibility of developing a direct route transfer without the sync facility, but unfortunately it's not as simple as just adding a switch, as our database and system are designed around it working on your own routes only. I've added it to our Feature Requests list (number 144).

I didn't realise that's what you meant by 'full sync' ! I can agree that's not ideal if you sync someone else route. 

However, my point still stands, as it is i am forced to make a duplicate copy, save it and then sync it. It just makes duplicates on your system ! I do this quite a lot.

Maybe consider a switch when you star to synch to Garmin - full / active sync, or one-off?

Yes, that's right Steve.  It's designed to only work with your own routes, as its a  full sync set-up, where the route on Plotaroute and the course on Garmin are kept in sync. If you were able to star someone else's route, they could then make changes to the route without you knowing and this would then result in the course on your Garmin account being changed. 

Do I really have to save a second copy of favourited route from someone else in order to be able to use the premium feature to star it for transfer to Garmin device?

why can't I star the route directly from my favourites page? Seems like a duplication and extra effort .
