Popular Routes
We're pleased to announce some changes to our Auto-Plot feature to provide more routing options for cyclists when planning new routes. The changes include a separate new setting to avoid major roads, which can be used in isolation or in combination with other settings.
Our Auto-Plot feature automatically calculates a route each time you plot a new point on the route planner, using the settings you choose, to work out the best route from the last point to the new one. Obviously if you plot two points very near to each other there may not be any alternative routes it can take, but it comes into it's own when there is a greater distance between the points you plot.
With these latest changes, we now have five different routing profiles available for planning cycle routes, using different combinations of the Auto-Plot settings available. Each one is geared (forgive the pun!) to a different type of cycling.
The default "BY BIKE" setting is available for free for everyone to use. The additonal options are available to Premium members. For more information about Premium membership, please visit our Membership page.
Another nice update ... they keep on a'comin! :)
I think the Auto-Plot information text needs to be brought in line with the new names .... Deselecting any of the Auto-Plot sub-options (ROAD BIKE, OFF-ROAD BIKE, PREFER OFF-ROAD and AVOID HIGHWAYS) can also sometimes help, as these options are by nature more restrictive.
Thanks Mark - well spotted!
