Popular Routes
We are pleased to announce two more enhancements that we've just implemented: Direction Number Map Markers and Map Printing with Premium Maps.
Direction Number Map Markers
We've added a new option to display numbered markers on the map to indicate the position of each of the directions for your route. The marker number will correspond with the relevant item in the list of directions, so it's particularly useful if you want to print out a route map with the directions, as it's then easy to see on the map where each of the directions are. However, it we hope it will also be helpful when planning or reviewing a route.
To display the Direction Number Map Markers, turn on on the Directions switch in the map Display Options switch list. You can find this under the DISPLAY menu above the map when viewing a route. The same switch is also available in the route planner - under DISPLAY OPTIONS on the desktop version and under the route planner Settings (gear icon) on the mobile version.
Map Printing with Premium Maps
We've added Ordnance Survey™ (GB) and AccuTerra™ (US) maps to the list of map types you can choose from when printing a route. This means that Premium members can now print full page maps of their routes with these premium maps, for personal non-commercial use. When combined with our Premium Multi-Page printing option, routes can be printed over several pages, to show each section close-up with a high level of detail.
For further details about Premium membership, please visit our Membership Options page.
Excellent enhancements, both! Thanks!
The numbering of directions is really smart. Then I quickly can find the correct dir in list and double check the sign. Before I very often dragged through the list to see the pop-up to find a specific item.
Thank you, both excellent useful enhancements
Colin
Is there a way of printing "what you see" (and then moving on to the next part of the walk...) rather than the whole route all at once, please? Also would it be possible to have an A3 paper size save option. On multiday walks, I prefer to print on A3 paper, using an online service, uploading a PDF file (as you offer).
Currently, it is not possible to navigate at such a scale that is being offered currently. Thank you,
Thanks for the feedback.
Colin - there is no "what you see" option for printing, although you can choose the Print With Browser option and then pan and zoom the map accordingly to get what you want. You can then use the browser's print options, which normally include PDF . However, you can also use our Multi-Page option to print the route map over mutliple pages, which will result in more detail being shown on the map, as each section is shorter.
