Popular Routes
Hey everyone!
I made several routes on plotaroute, but apperently it is not possible to upload the routes from my iPhone (through the garmin connect app) to my GPSMAP 66i. (it is possible to get the route from plotaroute directly on the garmin connect app though).
Is there any way to upload routes from plotaroute wireles from my iPhone to my garmin gpsmpa 66i? Or are there any work around methods?
Curious to your answers!
I found what the problem is. My current workflow is:
1. creat a route on plotaroute.
2. Download it through my phone browser (Safari in my case)
3. Share it to Garmin explore app
4. Sync the Explore app with the garmin device (GPSMAP 66i)
(It should be noted here that it is possible to share the routes automatically from plotaroute to the Garmin Connect app, however from this app it is not possible to share the routes to the GPSMAP 66i)
However, the problem I encountered is that if I download the route through the Firefox app (on my Iphone), there is an error in the file. This is not the case when I download it through the Safari app. In the GPX file downloaded from the Firefox app, there are no wpt included, only an error code as it appears. I am not sure how to upload a file here, but would happy to share how it looks.
So there is a work around, however would be great if it is also possible through Firefox :)
Are you 100% sure you're using the same settings when you download, as the file is produced on our server so it shouldn't matter what browser you are using?
Yes 100% sure I use the same download settings. This is what the beginning of the file looks like;
<!DOCTYPE html><html><head><title>plotaroute.com - Error</title>
So I guess something went wrong.
BTW, changed the workflow because the Garmin Connect app massivly reduces the number of points. After downloading on my phone, I load it on Wikiloc and the through the Garmin Connect IQ app (kind of appstore for the Garmin) I can download it on my Garmin GPSMAP 66i. Wikiloc also reduces the points, but not so much. However, still thinking about how this could be done more easy.
We've tired it with Firefox on an iPhone here and it works OK for us. It looks like your iPhone may be redirecting the request to download the file before it is sent onwards to our server. Do you have any other apps or Firefox add-ons installed on your iPhone that could be intercepting the download request to do this?
Thanks for looking into it! I couldnt find any source that might cause the error, but I will do it through Safari then.
