Popular Routes
Details here:https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2020/05/garmin-launches-strava-komoot-route-sync-works-on-devices-a-decade-old.htmlThe TL;DR is that Garmin now offers an API that's available for sites like plotaroute to automatically send newly-created routes to Garmin devices. The great thing about this, at least from the way Ray Maker describes it, is that it doesn't require the user to do anything else and it works withGarmin devices back to *2009*. It therefore replaces feature requests like https://www.plotaroute.com/posts/2517/D/1 as it doesn't need a Connect IQ app.

Really awesome thing. I would love to have this integration here.
Anyone seen confirmation on how it handle directions/course points/turn-by-turn?
I've seen comments that goes in both directions:
This is a very helpful development from Garmin. We'll be looking at how we can integrate this into plotaroute as soon as we can.
It looks like you may be right about the new API not accepting turn-by-turn instructions Peter. Garmin's documentation says "We don't provide API access for the partners to send us the navigations (right turn, left turn, etc.)". Instead, Garmin Connect will calculate the turn instructions before sending the course to the Garmin device, unless the device you are using can calculate them itself.
It's not clear how effective this will be, as the turn instructions may be different than those you saved with your route. Also, it looks like you wouldn't get any additional notes you've added to the directions, although there is an option to specify a very limited set of coursepoint types, including "Generic", so we could at least ensure that a generic coursepoint exists at each turn position. It should become clearer what we can and cannot do as we start development and testing.
