As an end-user I would like to have some keyboard shortcuts to the most-used functions so I do not have to click around with my mouse to select for instance a new tool. This would make my workflow more efficient
+1
Can you give some examples of keyboard shortcuts that would help?
For all plotting tools:
example: reshape, replot, shorten, ..The hoverover menu can illustrate the short-cut (example: ctrl+r)Auto-plot function:switch auto-plot on/off+For some general functions:Undo, save,...
Thanks, that's a nice idea. The main issue would probably be conflicts with the keyboard shortcuts used by your browser. For exmaple, CTRL+T may create new tab in your browser, so it would mean disabling any conflicting browser shortcuts, which some people might not want. We could create an extra setting to allow people to switch keyboard shortcuts off but this is starting to sound like an expensive new feature to develop then. We'll have a think about it.
Hi,Please have a look to the following article which can help in implementing short-cuts.https://medium.com/@sashika/j-k-or-how-to-choose-keyboard-shortcuts-for-web-applications-a7c3b7b408ee
I'd like this too, specifically, if you could switch maps quickly, e.g. press 1 to view OS maps, 2 for Trail, 3 for satelite, etc. That would be really useful.
Hi - we've actually now implemented Keyboard Shortcuts since this topic was started last year. You can read more about how to use them in our guide on How To Use Keyboard Shortcuts. We don't have one for changing the Map Type though I'm afraid, as the range of maps available is something that could potentially change, but there are quite a few others that you should hopefully find useful.
@Chris, this works indeed fine! Although some customizations would be nice :)Please keep in mind that keyboard shortcuts is a premium feature (worth the money)
Thanks for that - I hadn't noticed the keyboard shortcuts bit. If there was a way to implement it for maps, that would be really useful. When plotting a route, especially in remote areas, I often switch rapidly between satelite and maps to see if paths that supposedly exist, actually really exist. I realise the map types might change and that there are more than 10 maps. However maybe shortcuts for the most common one such as Satelite, Trails, OS GB, US Topo etc?
Also, just to say, I only found plotaroute a few days ago, but its absolutely awesome and is by far the best map planner I have ever found, and instantly signed up as my OS subscription expired! Keep up the awesome work :)
