Popular Routes
Please see the following post for updates on this issue: https://www.plotaroute.com/posts/2613/D/1
As report in another topic, this is still an issue. I do not believe it to be a Wahoo issue, but an Android issue.
After you've given it a name (when it says "Import FIT Course File") and then clicked OK, the route should be listed under the Routes section in the ELEMNT app. It's working OK for us here, so you may need to contact Wahoo to find out why routes aren't importing on your device.
I seem to have the same problem with downloading a route a created into my Wahoo Elemnt. I used to be able to do it but not anymore. I managed to go as far as step No 1, but once I gave the route a name and clicked ok , nothing happened - the route would not save. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? As I said I managed successfully download routes into my Wahoo in the past so the issue is quite recent.
Thanks David. We've tried transferring that route to a Wahoo ELEMNT and had no problems. Did you select FIT as the file format when you downloaded it from here?

Can you let us know what route you were trying to download please and we'll look into it.
Sorry, the instructions should refer to the "My Files" app not the "Downloads" app - we've corrected that now but will look into the other point.
I've just tried the new download to Wahoo elemnt feature and I'm getting a error saying "Download fail/poor gps/tcx" or something along these lines.
Also, on the instructions what do you mean by the "download app". There is no specific download app on an adroid device (well not my Samsung S10). There is the "My Files" app, which has a download "tab". However, there is no "open with..." option going through that option.
Apple seems to have made it more difficult to open downloaded files in apps with the latest release of iOS - you have to go through another couple of steps to get to the "open in..." option now. This isn't something we can do anything about unfortunately, as the way the file is handled on the iPhone once it's been downloaded fom our website is down to Apple. We've updated our guide for downloading routes to Wahoo devices though so that they include instructions for wireless transfer as well as wired transfer. We've included some screenshots for the iPhone, so hopefully this will help.
Thank you for your response
Everyone using a wahoo element in my cycling club now has the same problem
previously when selecting to download a route from plots route it popped up with an "open in element " box. You then pressed this button and it opened your wahoo app in your phone and downloaded the route. Easy as
now the only message that appears is "do you want to download ....... etc " this doesn't give you the option of importing directly to the wahoo app ( and from there directly to the wahoo device )
so you now have to save as a file upload the file the ridewithgps as a route then sync ridewithgps to the wahoo device. A lot more messing around
I appreciate you say you haven't made any changes but is there a possible fix to this to bring back the "open with element button" many thanks
ps. My issue with the instructions to download via a pc or laptop is the whole reason many people have switched to wahoo from Garmin is you don't need a laptop or pc. Everything should be able to be done from your phone direct
I can confirm that we haven't made any changes to the site over the past few days, so I think the problem must have been caused by something else. It sounds like you're using a iPhone? Have you recently installed the latest iOS update? We'll look into how this may have affected things.
I'm sorry to hear you didn't find our Wahoo download instructions very helpful. We had no problems transferring a route to a Wahoo device here by following these instructions, but if you let me know which step of the instructions you get stuck with we'll have another look at them. We'll also look at adding instructions to transfer routes wirelessly via the Wahoo app as an alternative to the wired transfer method.
I've now found the downloaded file in my icloud however the fact remains that the auto download to a wahoo no longer exists. You have to add the file to ridewithgps or similar then upload for there. Also plotaroute instructions for downloading a route to a wahoo are rubbish the idea with wahoo is you don't need to connect it to a pc or laptop yet their instructions tell you do do this !
To add this is not just a wahoo issue Plotaroute seems to have stopped you downloading any routes it just takes you back to the route page
After using plots route for years today it had stopped downloading routes direct to my wahoo. It ass me to save a file which if then doesn't allow me to do. The instructions for wahoos on plots route are wrong. They say to connect your wahoo to a pc or laptop. You do not so this with wahoos !! What is going on all my routes over 300 on plotAroute will not now download to my wahoo
