Popular Routes
Hi Peter!
Actually you understood perfectly and your suggestion was just what I needed! I'm new here, so thank you for the help!

If you mean to connect between points at the time when creating a route, you can deactivate auto-plot by choosing off in auto-plot-bar (Off/by road/on foot/by bike) at the moment you would like to plot outside paths. Maybe I misunderstand your question...
In my area there are a number of small "connector" paths that do things like connect one dead end street to another. These dog walking paths exist in the gray area between public and private right of ways, but are usually well known and used. But they don't appear in any of the base maps, and when I try to include one in a route, the app just doubles back, and goes around to the other side.
It would be nice to be able to trace the actual route, using these "pass throughs." Crowd sourcing these secret passages and shortcuts would be a really cool way to inform the community and add value to the product. Barring that, could we have the ability to set 2 immutable points and "force" a connection between them?
Sorry if this has already been addressed. I did look at all of the feature requests, but it is my first day on the app.
