Popular Routes
It would be useful when ploting a route, to have the possibility, as in Google Earth, to overlap an image, a scaned map etc. This is possible somehow now?
Thanks for the suggestion. This isn't something that you can do on the route planner at present but we'll add it to our feature request list. Out of interest, what would you use a scanned map overlay for?
I am member of a mountain club in Transylvania and we are building and maintaining trails in the Carpathians. There are existing old maps (20 to 40 years old) with old trails that are no visible in the field anymore. We are working with volunteers and mountauin rescue teams to rebuild the old trails, but we can't find them on the field (mostly due to reforestration, land abandonement, closed roads, vegetation etc) and is imposible to identify the trails on satellite images. So we need to overlap the old maps with satellite images in order to draw the shape of old trails, to be able to navigate on the field with GPS and to rebuilt our trails :) I don't know if this explanation is too long, but I hope that was clear / detailed enough.
Thanks for the explanation - that's very helpful.
Is it possible to import art work into a map that I have created on plotaroute?
I'm afraid there is currently no way to do this. You can upload photos though to associate with a route - the photos themselves cannot be overlaid on the map but you can place a photo icon on it.

One way to do this would be if plotaroute could use maps from http://mapwarper.net like https://www.openstreetmap.org/ do.
From plotaroute perspective it's like handling other tiled maps. From a user perspective, we need to put in an url or map id for our scanned map that we get on mapwarper page. This is an example
Tiles (Google/OSM scheme): http://mapwarper.net/maps/tile/22945/{z}/{x}/{y}.png
