Yes, if you are using a touch device the zoom buttons won't be there.

On the other point, are you referring to the back border surrounding the embedded map?  There is no option to change this I'm afraid.

i am using a samsung slate 7 running on windows 7 and yes it a touch device( could be why). using chrome as a browser.

in another note, is it possible to change the color from black  to light blue or another color?

Hi Jay - Are you viewing the map on a touch screen device?  Google removes the zoom buttons on touch screen devices as it is easier to pinch-zoom.  The zoom buttons should be there otherwise.  If not, can you let me know what device and browser you are using please?

i notice the map i embed or share does not have the zoom in and out feature, only during editing. how do i put this feature on my shared map?
