If you are using the Auto-Plot feature and it doesn't follow the path, it could be because that section of the path isn't designated for the intended use (walking, cycling) on the map data.  Try changing the Auto-Plot setting or switching the Auto-Plot switch off for that section.

Hi Colin - really glad you like ths site, thanks for the feedback.  The ability to show alternative paths on a route (effectively multiple routes on one map) is something that a number of people have asked for, so this is already on our Feature Requests list (number 55).  Anyone interested in this can vote for it there to move it up the list.

I'm a cycle guided ride leader and I've just come across Plotaroute - it looks excellent!

I've been using a different system to design routes for people who don't ride much on Milton Keynes Redways (cycle routes). Often with these types of rides we need to change the route depending on the fitness of whoever turns-up. We can't assess their fitness easily until we've riden for a short while (usually about a mile) - when we stop and see how they're doing. It would be really useful to be able to say - at this point use this alternative route A,B,C etc (which may just be a shortcut on the same route). Of course you can do this in real-life, but for these rides we need to risk-assess all the routes (and options) before taking anyone on them as the rides are organised by MK Council and their insurance insists upon it.

I can imagine there are other users who need to do a similar thing.

One route map with a central route and options would be brilliant, both from a planning and an operational point of view.

yes i want to take people on a 19km walk for example, but also show an 8km loop where those who cannot go further may branch off.

Hi Phil - I'm afraid we dont have a way of doing this at the moment.  You would need to plot them as separate routes.  I can put this down on our feature request list.

How do I plot or show more than one route on a map. For example I might want to show several alternative routes to the summit of Snowdon.
