This is a great feature - I was going to request it but spotted this!  It would be nice to be able to add directly on the map - perhaps it could be an additional option off the Plot menu to display the directions / notes panel with a marker at the current node?

With regards to display I think that a 'Display Notes' toggle would work coupled with auto-hiding them when sufficiently zoomed out.

Finally - not much more to add but it would be nice to be able to attach photo's - OR - display self-hosted photos via [URL] or [IMG] link - I would like to use this to illustrate notable features etc. on the route.

Thank you for this fantastic app.  This is the clincher for me - I'm going add free in support of it as I'm using it all the time now!

This is a great application which I'd love to use for the charity bike ride I'm currently organising.  Like Peter & Blaz I'd like to be able to see notes text on the map.  Thanks for the good work so far.  Clive

Thanks for the nice feedback Peter.  And for the feature suggestion (and your vote for this too Blaz).  

I'm not sure if you know, but it is already possible to add notes and place a symbol on the map to indicate where the notes are.  If you open the Directions/Notes panel (click 'DIR'NS) and then click the Add/Edit button, a marker will appear on the map that you can drag to where you want to add the notes.  Type in the notes in the panel on the left and tick the Show Symbol box.  You can choose a different symbol by clicking on the symbol next to the tick box.  Save the notes and the symbol will appear on the map.  I know this is not 100% what you are looking for, as I think you would like to be able to put the notes text on the map as well, but hopefully this is a good start. 

We'll definitely have a look into whether it's feasible to add annotated notes directly on the maps though.  This may be tricky as the positioning of these could mask parts of the route or important parts of the map, particularly when you zoom out on the map.  It may be that annotated notes can only be displayed on the map when you click on the symbol.  I'd be interested in anyone's views on what would work best here.

Like marking sleepover on a multiday trail run for example.

Brilliant site!  By far the simplest and best I have used - Good work people!

I would like to be able to annotate a route - add a short comment at certain points on the route - e.g. if the gates are locked ring Bob on 123456 or when crossing bridge be careful of swooping vultures.  Comments would be on the route itself rather than the overall route comment box that you currently provide.

Had a good hunt around but think this woud be a new feature.
