This is a section of the Merri Creek Trail which is a very pleasant walk, and is accessible by bus or trams which travel not far from the start and end points. This section of the trail is just under 4km in distance, and may, of course, be walked in either direction.

The start point at CERES Environmental Park is adjacent to Arthurton Rd, and heads north, or upstream, along well-sealed trail surfaces to end at Bell Street. Along the way, the trail passes the Brunswick Velodrome at about 1km from CERES, and changes to the opposite (Eastern) side of the creek at the Moreland Road / Normandy Avenue bridge.

Not far from this road crossing, and about 2km from the starting point, the trail passes the rear entrance to the Islamic Museum in Anderson St, and this is well worth a visit when it is open - it has a cafe and other facilities available.

From here, the trail continues on upstream, crossing the creek again at the Harding Street Bridge, and ending in the Bowden Reserve at Bell St

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
