Sun, Sea And Snow In Continental Europe

This is a trip round Continental Europe passing through the Alps before skirting the Mediterranean Sea before arriving back home again.

It starts, like always, at our home postcode, HP16 9HR, before snaking through the Chiltern Hills and across Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire into Harwich in Essex, where we catch the Stena Line ferry to Hoek van Holland in the Netherlands. It then passes through the Low Countries (Netherlands and Belgium) into Strasbourg in the north-east of France. It then crosses the river Rhine into Germany, passing through Bavaria into Austria and through the Alps into Switzerland. In Switzerland we stop for a 3-night stay in Zurich before heading down south to Sion for another 3-night stay, one day exploring the city and the other skiing at Switzerland's largest ski area at the ski resort of Nendaz and exploring the valleys beyond

Next, we head up to Geneva following the coast of Lake Leman, before following the Rhône valley into the French Alps. We stop off at Chamonix-Mont Blanc for 2 nights before heading into Italy via the Mont Blanc Tunnel.

After leaving the mountains behind, we skirt the Mediterranean coast of Italy and head westward into the French Riviera. After Marseille we rejoin the Rhône valley until Valence, where we head up into the French capital, Paris. We stop there for four nights before heading up Picardie, stopping at Parc Astérix for a day, and then heading to Calais to catch the ferry back to Dover, or to Coquelles to catch the Eurotunnel to Folkestone.

Back in the UK, we stop off for a day in either town before driving back through London and Berkshire into Buckinghamshire and arriving home in Great Missenden.
