Car Park To Slains & Harbour (Dracula Route 2)

Start at the car park, walk through the woods to the wee bridge, keep to the right of the burn and up the path to Ward Hill, all paths lead to the cliffs (you are crossing through the old Port Erroll golf course the outline of some of the bunkers can still be seen!). At the cliffs overlooking Port Erroll Harbour you can either walk down the slope and steps to the harbour or join the wide path taking a less steep exit off Ward Hill. Continue down Harbour Street and Main Street. At Bridge Street turn right uphill – at the top of the hill, turn right onto Castle Road on the opposite side of the road is Hilton Cottage where Bram Stoker wrote many of his books sitting at a table in the garden. On Castle Road take the track leading to Slains Castle. At Slains Castle the octagonal room, from Dracula, can still be seen. Behind Slains are the Twa Een & further away Dunbuy Rock. On the walk back you will pass by The Watter’s Mou.
