Run: 13/08/2024

Charlie and I ran from Lurgashall, as we used to before I went away. We were both much fitter then. The countryside is beautiful. I must remember to use different footpaths and to explore areas I don’t usually visit. I felt quite tired and allowed myself to walk one section. Charlie pulled away and I watched him go. I don’t need to be competitive, I just need to finish. My strategy is to keep moving, whether at a run or at a walk.

Edit: 15/08/2024

I returned and went around alone. I’ll be alone on race day and must get used to the silence of the open fields. Without the sound of Charlie’s steps, I was much more aware of my own. Their rhythm settled after a mile or two and I ran like an automaton. My mind was eight months ahead; in the final yards of The Event, my family and friends cheering me on from the roadside.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
