I think the route is one others might like to follow from Congleton; quiet lanes well behind Peckforton Hills leading to Malpas at 38m; leafy roads west of Whitchurch with the route popping into Wales for a while before 50 km in Shropshire, an undulating loop with Stoke on Tern as it southern point. An abrupt steep hill into the middle of Market Drayton is a brief shock but the tarmac from MD to Audlem is beautiful and fast to compensate. We slightly shortened the route planned through Norton in the Hales in order to get tea at No 11, a little cafe just North of Audlem, as Betley Tearooms would have closed before our arrival. We had started at 9:01 a.m. so better to have gone at 0730 or 0800 which gives more flexibility. Easy to turn the route into a 100-miler.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
