Take the first entrance to the canal on the right hand side of Aldi on Manchester Road, through the wooden gate structure and on to the canal. Follow the canal path keeping the canal on your right till you reach the windy path which leads you up and over to the other side. Take it and carry up the canal with the canal now on your left. When you reach the sign on your right ‘The Tame Valley .. HaughtonDale’ take that path down the steps.and follow the path up the the metal bridge. Don’t cross the bridge, take the path that is slightly to the left/in front of you, It will take you up and back on to the Peak Forest Canal path. Turn right and follow the path keeping the canal on your left, under bridge 9 and 10. Take the wooden posted exit on your right, down the steps , to the bottom at the Riverside Boarding Kennels. Follow along keeping kennels on your right, through the wooden posted area, bearing left onto the road. Continue past the metal gate up to the metal bridge. Cross the bridge and turn right. Follow the path up to the end and turn right down past the houses on your left till you pass the wooden ‘Haughten Dale’ sign, pass through and bear left. Follow the bridle path and down the steps on your right and through a metal entrance. You’ll see a wooden entrance in front of you , take it and follow until you see a footpath diversion sign. Bear left up the path till you reach a grassed area and a wooden gate which leads to a garden of a house. Cross to the pavement and turn right onto Sandown Drive. Take the first turning on your left up Ryde Avenue, to the top and turn right onto Freshwater Drive. Turn left at the end onto Manor Road and bear right shortly afterwards following the sign for Dan Wood. Continue down that path and under the metal bridge. Through the gate onto Mill Lane. Turn right, and then take the footpath sign on your right into a grassed area. Keep right over the grassed area heading for the gap in the bushes up ahead. Follow the path and there will be metal fence on your left. Keep going through the wooden gate and bear right on the road, past the burnt out truck. At the top turn left where you’ll see the sign ‘The tame Valley.. Peak Forest Canal Road Hyde’ . Go through the wooden gate and follow the canal path back to the start on Manchester Road.
