This goes up The Nab exactly the same way as Route #1, when you get to the plantation at the top, you turn right and keep going up. Walk towards the old farm building in your right, then you go past it and cross the road at the stile. On the opposite side of the road, you go over another stile, then immediately turn right over another stile. You then follow this path to the right, it’s a more gentle slope towards the top of the hill. When you get to the top, Cown Edge opens up to you, from here, on a clear day you have views from North Wales to the South, Bolton / Preston to the North with Manchester right in front of you. Follow all the way along Cown Edge right to the other end (hope you are okay with heights!). The path drops down off the edge and picks up a bridle path, turn left at the gate and you go back up, at the top, turn left and you walk back towards Glossop direction. Go over a stile and keep on walking with the plantation on your left. You come to a path which is in a sunken dip, follow this to the right and it follows the edge before dropping down to where you crossed the road. Cross back over and you will know where you are again, walk towards the plantation and walk back down the hill and back home. This walk probably takes about 1.5 - 2 hrs, the views are stunning on a clear day.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
