This is my longer tougher hillier version of my favourite route. It is the same except there are 4 more miles of hilly terrain and a cafe break. However, the rest is the same as the shorter version aimed at good weather. This one does miss out out Bickerton hill so it is more weather friendly but still gets good westerly protection. ultimate very hilly short one via Chapel hill and my all time fav Tilston Thearnel & Bunbary ( Tilly’s cafe) not that a cafe stop is needed on this short one. Just the right distance and hills to max me out without a cafe. My legs always die after a cafe, due to lactic acidosis on set.
I have a few versions of this route that are aimed at wet weather and the cold. However, this is the all time favourite version as all the lanes are good quality.
The route is also specifically aimed at Westerly wind, so there is some cross wind in the first part, but then tail wind for a good few miles before Chapel hill and the rest is either down hill or very well protected from the wind, once past Bunbary and behind the ridge , where the next 5 miles are all up.
Peckforton ridge only provides wind protection when the wind is westerly, it can provide some protection at SW, but not ideal.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
