Riding The Wainwrights - The Dodds

This route as plotted only includes Great Dodd because I didn't bag Watsons or Stybarrow Dodd which could easily be included but the bridleway skirts past them. The climb up is good with a couple of unrideable bits (for me, even if coming down that way) where the rocky zig-zags climb to the copper mines and where the path has been washed out to scree just befoer Sticks Pass. Great route along the top and a fast route down the spur to the Old Coach Road unless conditions are wet - I did it when the ground was frozen on one occasion and that is best. Unusually for my routes it includes a return leg via road, no problem down to Ullswater because you're at same speed as the cars but the road along Ullswater is best avoided in high season. This is one of the more rideable Riding the Wainwrights routes although still involves fell tops so go prepared for all weathers. It also all has public rights for cyclists (bridleway and road).
