Baslow Edges Circular

From Eaton Drive the route climbs steadily up to Baslow Edge with wide ranging views from the start (weather permitting!). After walking along the edge the route goes over the moorland via Curbar Gap for a complete change of scenery and the chance to spot curlew and buzzards. The walk loops around the base of Birchen Edge before a short but steep rocky climb to the top of the edge. The route then walks along the edge to pass Nelson's Monument and the Three Ships rock formations before reaching the Trig point. From here it loops around to walk along the lesser known Gardom's Edge and descend through the woods before a short climb up Jack Flat and returning via tracks to Baslow.
Most of the walk is on good paths but please note that it WILL be very muddy in places after rain.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
