Whistleberry Way - 10 miles

A mostly flat route, mainly on tarmac path with a small section of country path for the last few miles which could be muddy depending on the weather at the time (Sensible footwear required and definitely no fresh white trainers) 😂.

Leaving from Portakabin on Whistleberry Road, we will turn left and cross the road taking a right turn under the express way flyover and heading along the River Clyde to Bothwell Road. We will then cross the flyovers at the Raith Interchange and come into Strathcylde Country Park.

The route will take us around the Motherwell side of the loch past M&D's Theme Park, and the Roman Baths ruins, and then a short detour onto the dual carriageway path where we will pick up a trail along the Avon Water towards the Avon Bridge and heading towards the Hunting Lodge at Chatelherault Country Park.

We will then loop around the Hunting Lodge along the Huntsmans path, taking a set of steps down onto the lower path and doubling back alongside the Avon Water which will bring us back to the Avon Bridge.

We will then cross Carlisle Road taking the path into Smithy Croft (behind Douglas Parks old house). This short section of woodland trail will take us past some ponds and bring us out at Hamilton Tennis club where will will cross the road into the Palace Grounds retail Park, an then into the Palace Grounds recreational grounds.

We will pass the Davie Cooper Memorial, and the Hamilton Mausoleum before making the short but steep ascent up The Furlongs, passing the Hamilton Race Course and coming to rest at ML3 Bar for a well earned refreshment.

**From Whistleberry Road, until we reach the Hunting Lodge at Chatelherault the walk will be on Tarmac paths. Once we pick up the trail at Chatelherault the terrain will change to a dirt path which can be muddy in parts depending on what the weather has been like.

**There will be a few short inclines at different stages of the walk the Raith flyovers, heading up towards Chatelherault House, and and the very end of the walk heading up The Furlongs.
