CER- Alisons To Fire Station Via Both Wych’s

This is a fantastic clockwise hilly route & possibly my all time favourite on lovely lanes to the Firestation cafe in Malpas, after 25 miles.
Before the cafe is the fab section through Higher & Lower Wych, even before that in fact. It’s fab & hilly around here. Virtually in to Brindley Brook, where there is another cafe option ( Lock gate, on the canal) This route avoids all A roads, except the bit from the Bickerton Poacher.
The route back to Alisons is also via my favourite lanes such as Brown knowl and easier side of Harthill.
This route is also good after lots of rain, most of the time. I have only experienced 1 flooded lane just before Higher Wych and then it was simply the hole lane flowing like a shallow stream, not an actual flood.
Can be a bit mucky occasionally on the steep bit down to Lower Wych ( stiff climb , the other way and my other favourite shorter route from MG. Bickerton hill can be gravelly and wet, so there is the alternative parallel lane, but more exposed to the SW winds of course, especially as up hill slightly in clockwise direction

A good way to extend this is to add a loop to Chalmondsley and back through the lanes toward No mans Heath.

Note: Hampton lane before old coach road can be mucky as hell, due to farmers. Best to go around it via No Hampton Heath and acrossto No Man’s Heath.

Can be shortened easily if the weather turns early, before the tough stuff starts and that's by heading straight across to Malpas once in No Mans Heath and the cafe of course

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
