31/10/2023 Exploratory try of bridlepaths from Wineham Rd going east across to the A23.

Section from Wineham to Twineham Lanes is too muddy / rough for low season / road bikes, albeit mostly a firm surface.

Section from Twineham Lane across to the A23 is passable, but makes use of the Hickstead showground road network (rather than grass) courtesy of a sign saying ' Bridlepath users may use the road to avoid the mud' on the west side (see detour on route map), but there's a No Entry sign to go past (probably just one-way when there's events). There's no corresponding sign on the east side, to the degree that this is permissive is slightly loose.

There is a short section of footpath allowing egress from the showground to join the A23 cycle path up to the Hickstead roundabout.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
