Agatha Christie had a close and long-lasting relationship with London. She was born in Torquay, England in 1890, but she moved to London with her first husband, Archie Christie, in 1918. They lived in several different parts of the city, including St John's Wood, Chelsea, and Notting Hill.

Christie spent much of her time in London writing, and she often used the city as a setting for her novels. Some of her most famous London-based mysteries include:

• The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (1926)
• Murder on the Orient Express (1934)
• The ABC Murders (1936)
• Peril at End House (1932)
• Cards on the Table (1936)

Christie was also a regular theatregoer, and she wrote several plays that were performed in London, including:

• The Mousetrap (1952)
• Witness for the Prosecution (1953)
• Black Coffee (1930)
• Spider's Web (1954)
• And Then There Were None (1943)

Christie died in 1976, but her legacy continues to live on in London. Her plays are still performed in the West End, and her novels continue to be read and enjoyed by people all over the world.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
