My Saint Patricks Way....
When I decided I wanted to walk across Ireland East to West and then Climb Croagh Patrick, the climb gave me the context in which to do it. I researched pilgrim routes in Ireland and could not find one dedicated to any national saint which traversed Ireland itself. There were some shorter looped walks ok,and one which has been in existance for a long time called the Togher which is dedicated to St. Patrick and runs from Ballintubber Abbey to Croagh Patrick.
I plotted a route which passed through some of the areas St. Patrick stopped at as he traversed his way across Ireland. Each place I stopped at had some connection, legendary or otherwise, to him. I started at Colpe near Drogheda, the reputed point at which St. Patrick landed after his visit to Northern Ireland where he established his first church. From Colpe I continued west where I eventually met up with the official Togher route from Ballintubber Abbey and on towards my goal of Croagh Patrick.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
