This one is aimed at option cafe or pub lunch either at the Black Bear or Alderford lake cafe.
The route is deliberately via little lanes that are not good in winter as they get very crappy from farmers. Certainly needs to be dry for some time.
Both the pub and the cafe are 2 of the best destinations in all of my routes and the option change is easy. The route is plotted to the pub on the north side of town centre. To change to Alderford lake cafe simply take Hollins lane, to the right after 23.5 miles to Tilston. Then turn left on to the B 5476 to Whichurch. After 1 mile the lakeside cafe / garden centre is on the right.
Then carry on same road to roundabout and follow straight across in to town centre and after half mile pick up B5395 and follow it for half mile and pick up the original route, after the pub.
The route is fairly hilly, but not severe. There is fairly good climb straight out of Whichchurch after the pub and takes us to the top ( through Hill Valley golf course) with a great view toward Sandstone ridge, looking down on Marbury Mere, where the Swan pub is ( also a Brunning pub like the Black Bear)
My route deliberately avoids the area of Hanmar, as the lanes, within 3 miles, are awful, which means I can’t plot a route via Threapwood (favourite, but in loads of other routes)
The route into Whichurch and the pub is not bad at all, considering. The pub will also open the back yard gate in winter so we can take bikes in and be secure. In summer it is open as there is beer garden.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
