Start: Ashton West Tram Stop, Lord Sheldon Way

• Lord Sheldon Way direction Ashton
• Left onto Richmond St
• Over bridge, pass Sports complex then Left onto Back Lane (track) after the big field
• Follow to just before the humpback bridge over the motorway, turn Right here
• Follow to end to meet Lumb Lane

OPTIONS:
Shorter/Drier
• Turn left on Lumb Lane and follow for a while until crossing the railway (bridge just looks like brick walls!) and the main road swings 90deg right.
• Go right and look for a track entrance on left side (this is where the 2 options re-merge)

Longer/Muddier
• Turn right on Lumb Lane and follow to Daisy Nook area – left down Stannylands Rd
• Almost immediately left onto canal towpath
• Follow over motorway until you reach a gate
• Exit the gate onto a road & directly opposite, go through a similar gate to rejoin the towpath
• Follow until you reach a narrow bridge over the railway. Cross the bridge and immediately take the Left path.
• Follow this path staying left, the path opens up into a wide concrete path down then up
• At the top, straight ahead to shortly meet Lumb Lane (this is where the 2 options re-merge)

• Both routes continue as follows:
• Take the path off Lumb Lane and follow as it twists through a park-like area
• There will be occasional junctions to left or right but always take the path that feels straight ahead
• Emerge from the path opposite the Snipe B&Q park-like
• Left and follow Lord Sheldon Way back to the start

Find out how we calculate Calories

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
